Sports Performance

I love working with athletes! I currently work with both professional and recreational athletes on improving their skills, preventing injury and improving overall fitness.

Works For All Fitness Levels

I tailor custom fitness programs for all my clients. If you’re new to the gym, I’m not going to start you out with exercises that are past your ability or risk injury. If you’ve been in the gym all your life, I’ll tailor a fun, original and effective program for you. My clients are in all seasons of their lives, with different abilities and limitations. As your trainer, I am here to maximize your potential. I use a combination of metabolic training, functional training, strength training, dynamic and PNF stretching, as well as sports performance, injury prevention and rehabilitation techniques to design a custom program for you.

Metabolic Training

These are high intensity (HIIT) workouts designed to burn maximum calories and increase metabolic rate during and after the workout. The goal of the workout is to have maximum impact in the shortest period of time, resulting in muscle build and fat loss.

These types of workouts are definitely geared towards those looking for weight loss, toning and increased strength.

I use a wide variety of methods and exercises so that each workout is effective, fun and targeted. If you’re spending hours on the treadmill, or long gym sessions with low to medium weight and not seeing results you’re wasting your time.

Functional Training

Functional training is all in the name, the purpose is to improve function. While this type of exercise is appropriate for all stages of life, it’s ideal for those with injuries, seniors and athletes.

Functional training allows you to better perform the functions of your current, every day life, including your other workouts. Depending on the client’s needs I’ll incorporate functional training with other workouts like metabolic and strength, or we’ll target a specific goal the client is trying to achieve, like better mobility.

Strength Training

Strength training is a critical part of everyone’s health and fitness. The hard truth is with muscle, if you don’t use it, you lose it, and even worse your body fat percentage increases if you don’t do anything to replace lean muscle loss. Strength training uses weight and resistance to enhance muscle mass.

Strength training benefits include –

  • Bone strength
  • Weight management
  • Increased Quality of Life
  • Reduced Risk of Falls
  • Manage chronic conditions
  • Improve cognitive performance

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services recommends incorporating strength training exercises for all major muscle groups into a fitness routine at least two times a week.

Depending on the client I will incorporate strength training in their fitness plan alongside metabolic and functional training.

Dynamic and PNF Stretching

Stretching is critical to preventing injury and obtaining the most out of your pre and post workout. Stretching sessions are good for everyone, but especially those suffering from –

  • Injury prevention
  • Tightness
  • Back injuries
  • Knee injuries
  • Shoulder injuries
  • Parkinson’s
  • Multiple Sclerosis

Or those wishing to increase Sports Performance.

I like using foam rollers, medicine balls, softballs, golf balls and lacrosse balls. Then progress to Dynamic Stretching (12 movements) and PNF Stretching (8 movements).

These modalities breakup tissue to help boost mobility, increase range of motion, assist with injury prevention, and increase circulation. Depending on the client, a stretching session can be anywhere between 60-90 minutes.

(Cupping and Kinesiology Tape is also used with some clients)

Kinesio Taping® Method

The Kinesio Taping® Method is a definitive rehabilitative taping technique that is designed to facilitate the body’s natural healing process while providing support and stability to muscles and joints without restricting the body’s range of motion as well as providing extended soft tissue manipulation to prolong the benefits of manual therapy administered within the clinical setting.

Cupping

Cupping increases blood circulation to the area where the cups are placed. This may relieve muscle tension, which can improve overall blood flow and promote cell repair. It may also help form new connective tissues and create new blood vessels within the tissue.

Sports Performance

I have worked with athletes for over two decades to increase overall performance. My clients include professional football and baseball players, olympic track runners, and youth through high school coaching.

If you want to take your sports performance to the next level, give me a call today!

Injury Prevention

There is a lot you can do to decrease risk of injury at any age and lifestyle. Many people accept ailments like plantar fasciitis, tennis elbow or “bad knees” as an inevitable part of the aging process. Nope! While some injuries can obviously not be prevented, there is a lot you can do to maintain your health, strength and mobility whether you sit at a desk all day or lead an active lifestyle.

In addition to focusing on client needs regarding injury prevention, I can also assist you with injury rehabilitation.

Rehabilitation

If you have recently completed a rehabilitation program I can help you with a fitness program specifically designed to your medical condition. I will perform a fitness assessment on clients with medical disorders without causing exacerbation of the condition, and develop a safe and effective conditioning program. I specialize in knee and back injuries.

Testimonials

I came to Dan with TWO “bad” knees. Prior to finding him, I had ACL and meniscus surgery on both of my knees. I struggled with full range of motion and felt extremely weak in my day-to-day functions. Within a month of training with him I felt stronger, my heels were able to touch my glutes, and I was more confident in my abilities to single leg hop, run, and train again (track and field). Dan created a training cycle that worked best for me and my abilities. With self monitoring, I was able to track my own progress and was able to see week to week how much I was progressing. I really consider Dan my SuperTrainer. Prior to him, I trained with a hand-full of trainers but none that was so specific in what I did. Dan not only helped me get physically stronger but he tapped into my mental as well. He challenged me to do things I thought I would never be able to do and because of that I am stronger than I have ever been. I am no longer nervous to do anything physical. If you’re in the area and looking for a trainer, Dan will DEFINITELY get you where you desire to be. I feel so lucky to have trained under him!

“Dan Rossmann is much more than a Fitness Trainer; he’s a friend, a coach, a motivator and a believer in fitness. He has helped me recover from a painful back injury and I am thrilled to say that after only three short months, he’s gotten me back from the abyss and I’m stronger than ever. Most importantly, Dan cares about his clients and pays close attention to their needs and fitness goals. Combined with his education and experience, he is innovative and fun to work with and I’ve never, ever been bored!”
